Week One - Research!

Congratulations to Wade, Daniel, Darshan, Nelson and Kieran, whose work today impressed Mr Thiessen and Mr Morgan enough to be the first on the website!

How do animals fly?

We came to a mutual conclusion and decided to go with the question: How do animals fly?

  • Why do birds flap when they fly?- Darshan. we came to this sub question because birds are the animals that would be seen flying more often.

  • Why do birds have feathers?-Daniel. We came to this sub question because, we were wondering whether feathers affected the flight of birds and animals that fly which have feathers.

  • Does their flight depend on the amount of wings?-Wade. We came to this sub question because, different types of animals/ insects have more or less wings than other animals.

  • Is there a method for flying?-Darshan. We came to this sub question because, we were wondering whether birds or any sort of animals flew in the same way as others did, and if they had any sort of flight path like our planes.

  • Is gliding really flying?-Nelson. We came to this sub question because, gliding is almost the same as flying as you are still in the air and can move about freely as you could whilst flying, so we decided to make it a question where we can develop deeper into this question.

Can all animals with wings fly?-Kieran. We came to this sub question because, most animals that have wings CAN fly but we didn’t think that every animal with wings can fly, and we wanted to answer this question and develop it deeper to find out more information.
