Space School launches into new space

24th January 2017 saw the official opening of Space Studio West London’s new Building in Feltham.

The school was honoured to have Air Commodore Dawn MacCafferty: Commandant Air Cadets to open the Building

In her Speech Air Commodore MacCafferty reflected on the fantastic opportunities that are available at the school for young people in the local area; including residential trips to NASA in Houston & Florida.

The school works closely with industry to set real life projects for students to work on including Heathrow, RAF, British Airways, BP, the National Space Academy, Surrey Satellites Technology limited and Hitachi Rail to name just a few.

Present at the opening was local MP Seema Malhotra who has supported the project from the outset; along with many local industry and education representatives.

The Building contains three purpose built Science Laboratories; a 200 m2 Engineering Workshop; a Robotics Laboratory; State of the art Food Science Kitchens; Gym and flexible learning spaces.

The 4.5 Million pound new building in Letchworth Avenue was designed by GSS Architects and built by Farrans.

Principal Andy Morgan said “It is fantastic to have a building specifically designed to support our pioneering approach to education, as one guest commented it seems more like a work place than a school.”

The School, that focuses on Science and Maths education, houses 140 Students from years 10 to 13 and will build to its capacity of 300 in the next two years.
